The problem
A visitor does not experience a destination as a database. They ask a question shaped by time, mobility, language, family, weather, location, and personal interest. Yet the answer is usually scattered across search results, maps, directories, event pages, and outdated business listings.
Rostock.ai is designed to reduce that distance: one conversational interface over a structured, trusted local knowledge layer.
The system
OpenStreetMap, Wikidata, municipal open data, and other publicly accessible or appropriately licensed sources.
Businesses and tourism organizations can contribute information through controlled input workflows.
Submitted profiles and factual updates move through a review process before public use.
Visitors receive useful answers based on their context and the information currently available.
The AIDA Innovation Hub milestone
In 2026, Rostock.ai was selected from more than 150 ideas as one of nine finalists in the first AIDA Innovation Hub. It joined Ariadne and contagt in the “AI Tools & Smart Solutions” category.
On September 16, 2026, I presented the concept at AIDA’s headquarters in Rostock. The cruise use case extended the platform into a digital shore companion: a guest could receive recommendations shaped by the available time, interests, mobility needs, and local context.
The pitch was not about replacing local expertise. It was about making trusted local knowledge easier to reach.
Why the infrastructure matters
Nordkurier reported that the prototype used IONOS AI Model Hub and emphasized European processing and data storage. The architecture can also support an organization’s own servers or models, depending on the operational and data requirements.
This is part of the product position: local intelligence should create value for the destination, respect European expectations around data, and give local organizations a role in the information layer.

- Residents looking for reliable local information.
- Businesses that want accurate information to reach the right visitor.
